How they work

Transference stations receive urban waste both from selective collection containers (small containers and packages, paper and cardboard, glass...) and large-scale urban waste.

The waste material is unloaded from the collection lorries into different hopper trucks, according to the type of waste in question. Paper and cardboard is compacted by a hydraulic press inside 40 m3 hermetic containers. Glass, on the other hand, is dumped into open containers.

All the waste collected is transported from there to its final destination which are the treatment plants situated in the Majorca Environmental Technologies Park in Son Reus and Can Canut, except for glass and paper / cardboard, which are taken directly to recycling businesses.
